SGPA Calculator

Work out your Semester Grade Point Average. Enter each subject's grade point and its credits.

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) summarises one semester's performance on your university's grade-point scale (usually 10-point). It weights each subject's grade point by the subject's credits, so high-credit subjects count more. Enter your grade points and matching credits above.

How to calculate SGPA

SGPA = Σ(grade point × credits) ÷ Σ(credits)

Worked example

(9×4 + 8×3 + 7×3 + 10×2) ÷ (4+3+3+2) = 101 ÷ 12 = 8.42 SGPA.

SGPA and CGPA

SGPA is for a single semester; your CGPA is the cumulative average across all semesters. Once you have each semester's SGPA, use a CGPA calculator to combine them. Many Indian universities also convert CGPA to a percentage by multiplying by 9.5.

Frequently asked questions

Then SGPA is just the average of the grade points.
What scale is SGPA on?
Usually a 10-point scale, but the formula works on any scale your grade points use.
