How we calculate
Every CalcPine tool follows the same method so you can trust the result and check it yourself.
1. Research the real question
We study how people actually use each calculator — the inputs they have, the units they prefer (for example kilograms vs pounds), and the answer they're really after — so the tool fits the way you think.
2. Verify the formula
We confirm the correct formula against authoritative, primary sources and cross-check it against established tools. The formula and its variables are shown on every calculator page.
3. Test against known values
Before publishing, each calculator is tested against worked examples with known answers to make sure the math is right across edge cases and unit conversions.
4. Explain and cite
We publish each tool with a plain-English explanation, a worked example, an FAQ, the sources we relied on, and the date it was last reviewed.
5. Review and update
Where a calculator depends on figures that change over time — tax rates, prices, guidelines — we review and update it on a schedule and note the update date on the page.
