CGPA here is the simple average of your semester GPAs, which is correct when every semester carries equal credits. If credits differ, weight each GPA by its semester's credits.
GPA (Grade Point Average) is usually a single semester's average, while CGPA (Cumulative GPA) spans your whole programme. When each semester carries the same total credits, your CGPA is simply the average of your semester GPAs. Enter your GPAs above, separated by commas, and this calculator returns the CGPA on the same scale (10-point, 4-point, or any other).
How to convert GPA to CGPA
CGPA = (GPA₁ + GPA₂ + … + GPAₙ) ÷ n

Worked example
Six semesters at 7.5, 8.0, 8.2, 8.6, 9.0 and 8.7: sum = 50, divided by 6 = 8.33 CGPA.
When credits differ
If semesters have different credit totals, a plain average is slightly off — the correct CGPA weights each semester's GPA by its credits: CGPA = Σ(GPA × credits) ÷ Σ(credits). For most programmes with equal per-semester credits, the simple average used here matches the official figure.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert GPA to CGPA?
Average your semester GPAs: add them up and divide by the number of semesters (with equal credits).
Does this work on a 4-point scale?
Yes — averaging works on any scale, so 4-point GPAs give a 4-point CGPA.
What if my semesters have different credits?
Weight each GPA by its semester credits: CGPA = sum of (GPA × credits) ÷ total credits.
Is GPA the same as CGPA?
GPA is usually one semester; CGPA is the cumulative figure across all semesters.
