Salary to Hourly Calculator
Convert a salary into an hourly wage — or an hourly wage into a salary — and see the daily, weekly, biweekly and monthly equivalents.
Comparing job offers, freelance rates and salaries is much easier when everything is on the same footing. This calculator converts any pay figure into an equivalent hourly, weekly, monthly and annual amount using the hours and weeks you actually work.
How to convert salary to hourly pay
Divide the annual salary by the number of hours you work in a year — your weekly hours multiplied by the number of weeks you work.
Annual = Hourly × Hours per week × Weeks per year
| Input | Common value |
|---|---|
| Hours per week | 40 (full time) |
| Weeks per year | 52, or 50 if you take 2 unpaid weeks |
| Work hours per year | 2,080 at 40 × 52 |
Worked example
A $60,000 salary at 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year:
| Hours per year = 40 × 52 | 2,080 |
| Hourly = 60,000 ÷ 2,080 | $28.85 |
| Monthly = 60,000 ÷ 12 | $5,000 |
| Weekly = 60,000 ÷ 52 | $1,153.85 |
Quick salary-to-hourly reference
At a standard 2,080-hour year, these round figures are handy to remember.
| Annual salary | ≈ Hourly |
|---|---|
| $40,000 | $19.23 |
| $50,000 | $24.04 |
| $60,000 | $28.85 |
| $75,000 | $36.06 |
| $100,000 | $48.08 |
Gross vs take-home pay
These figures are gross — before taxes, insurance and retirement deductions. Your take-home pay will be lower, and by how much depends on where you live and your withholdings. For comparing offers, gross is the right basis; for budgeting, estimate net separately.
