Percentage to CGPA Calculator
Convert a percentage to CGPA. CBSE divides by 9.5; a plain 10-point scale divides by 10 — pick yours.
To turn a percentage into a CGPA you divide by a conversion factor. Under the CBSE rule (where CGPA × 9.5 = percentage), the reverse is CGPA = percentage ÷ 9.5. Some institutions instead use a plain 10-point scale where CGPA = percentage ÷ 10. Pick the scale that matches your board or university above.
How to convert percentage to CGPA
CGPA = percentage ÷ 9.5 (CBSE) or percentage ÷ 10 (10-point)
| Percentage | CBSE (÷9.5) | 10-point (÷10) |
|---|---|---|
| 95% | 10.00 | 9.50 |
| 85% | 8.95 | 8.50 |
| 76% | 8.00 | 7.60 |
| 60% | 6.32 | 6.00 |
Worked example
A CBSE student with 85%: 85 ÷ 9.5 = 8.95 CGPA. On a plain 10-point scale it would be 8.50.
