Age Calculator
Enter your date of birth to find your exact age in years, months and days, how many days you've been alive, and the countdown to your next birthday.
Your age is the time elapsed since the day you were born. We usually say it in whole years, but a precise age breaks down into years, months and days — and can also be expressed as a total number of days, weeks or months lived. This calculator works all of that out from your date of birth, and counts down the days to your next birthday. You can also check your age as of any past or future date.
How age is calculated
Start from the year difference, then adjust for whether your birthday has already happened this year. If the current day is earlier in the month than your birth day, borrow a month; if the current month is earlier than your birth month, borrow a year. The leftover months and days complete the exact age.
Months = remaining whole months since the last birthday
Days = remaining days since the last month-day
| Born | As of | Exact age |
|---|---|---|
| 15 Aug 1990 | 12 Jul 2026 | 35 years, 10 months, 27 days |
| 1 Jan 2000 | 1 Jan 2026 | 26 years, 0 months, 0 days |
| 29 Feb 2004 | 28 Feb 2026 | 21 years, 11 months, 30 days |
Days, weeks and months lived
Besides your age in years, it can be fun — or useful for forms and milestones — to know your total days lived. A rough guide: multiply years by 365.25 to allow for leap years. For a precise figure, this calculator counts the actual days between your birth date and today, so leap years are handled automatically. The same total divided by seven gives your age in weeks.
Handling leap-year birthdays
People born on 29 February have a birthday only every four years. In common years, most calculators treat 28 February or 1 March as the birthday for age purposes. This tool counts a leap-day birthday as reached on 1 March in non-leap years, so the whole-year age ticks over correctly.
