Business Days Calculator

Count the working days between two dates — Monday to Friday only — and subtract any public holidays to get the true number of business days.

Business days — working days from Monday to Friday — are how deadlines, delivery estimates and payment terms are usually counted. Because weekends and holidays don't count, the number of business days in a stretch is always less than the calendar days. This calculator counts the weekdays between two dates and lets you subtract public holidays, so you can work out true turnaround times and due dates.

How business days are counted

The tool steps through each date in the range and counts only Mondays through Fridays, then subtracts any holidays you enter. By default it counts the days after the start date; tick the box to include the start date itself.

Why business days matter

Shipping, bank transfers, legal notice periods and service-level agreements are almost always quoted in business days, so "5 business days" from a Thursday actually lands the following Thursday, not the weekend. Holidays push it further out. When a deadline matters, count in business days and check the relevant holiday calendar — this tool lets you subtract those holidays so the result reflects your region's non-working days.

Frequently asked questions

How many business days are between two dates?
Enter both dates and the calculator counts the Monday-to-Friday days between them, then subtracts any holidays you specify.
Does it count the start and end dates?
By default it counts the days after the start up to and including the end date. Tick "include the start date" to count it too.
Are public holidays included?
Not automatically, because they differ by country. Enter how many holidays fall in your range and the tool subtracts them.
How many working days are in a year?
Around 260 before public holidays — 52 weeks of five days — typically 250 or fewer once national holidays are removed.
