Attendance Percentage Calculator
Work out your attendance percentage, how many classes you can still miss, or how many you need to attend to reach the 75% rule or any target you set.
Most colleges require a minimum attendance — commonly 75% — to sit exams, and it's easy to lose track of where you stand. This calculator shows your current attendance percentage from the classes you've attended and the total held, then tells you either how many more classes you can afford to miss while staying above your target, or how many you must attend in a row to climb back up to it.
How attendance is calculated
Your percentage is attended classes divided by total classes. To stay above a target, there's a limit to how many you can miss; to reach it from below, there's a number you must attend consecutively.
Can miss = (Attended × 100 ÷ Target) − Total
Must attend = (Target × Total − 100 × Attended) ÷ (100 − Target)
| Attended / Total | Attendance |
|---|---|
| 68 / 80 | 85.0% |
| 60 / 80 | 75.0% |
| 54 / 80 | 67.5% |
Worked example
68 of 80 classes attended, with a 75% requirement:
| Attendance = 68 ÷ 80 | 85.0% |
| Can miss = (68 × 100 ÷ 75) − 80 | 10 classes |
Staying above the line
The "classes you can miss" figure assumes no further classes are attended once you start skipping — so it's the safe maximum before you dip below the target. If you're already below the requirement, the calculator instead shows how many classes you must attend consecutively to recover. Remember that some absences (medical, sport, official duty) may be condoned by your institution, and rules on rounding vary, so treat this as a planning guide and confirm with your department.
